Beware, Princess Elizabeth: Carolyn Meyer

I have begun chapter two. Elizabeth and this "Kat" are talking about Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth's mother. Elizabeth had said she had been her mother's failure because her father wanted a boy. Her father had later on ended up not loving her anymore and putting her up in a tower where she would die along with one of his other wives, Catherine. But she was not near as pretty as Anne had been. Anne was beautiful with black hair as a raven's wing and eyes black as jet, and she was intelligent and witty as well in Kat's words. Catherine Howard's head had been caught in a basket and her blood had been sopped up by crones with handkerchiefs. Elizabeth had thought this must have been the way it was for my mother. Elizabeth had loved her father because well, he was her father and he was king. But she also "resented him deeply" because she could still have her mother. But her darkest secret of all was that at times she had hated him. Which I understand because I would probably hate him too for basically killing my mother. I couldn't stand living without my mother and knowing my father had just thrown her into a tower and then keeps falling in love with other women, I couldn't do it!
