Beware, Princess Elizabeth: Carolyn Meyer
It was now the tenth of July and John Dudley informed Queen Jane that she has to make her husband, Guildford, the king now that King Edward is dead. Jane had called together some privy councillors and told them that if the crown really belongs to her then she would make her husband a duke. But she wouldn't consent to make him king. I think that Queen Jane should make him king. She is already queen. Why wouldn't she make her husband king? It only makes sense. If I were a queen, I would want my husband to be a king as well, not a duke.
