Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

Colton is now home from the hospital. They were now full of hospital bills and they wanted to make payments the tenth of every month just like they do with their grocery tabs and gas tabs. Colton told Todd and Sonja that they should pay them because Jesus told him Dr. O'Holleran made Colton better. Colton's parents were confused that he was talking about what Jesus had told Colton. One day Colton got in a tug of war with a toy and another kid. Todd had to discipline Colton and Colton said he was sorry and that Jesus told Colton to be nice to everybody. I think that is something special. I will admit I should be nice too. I wish Jesus could spread that to everybody and maybe some people would actually listen.

Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

They end up taking Colton to North Platte to take him to the hospital. When they arrived at the hospital, the receptionist said that the doctor was on lunch break and would be back in about fifteen minutes. Todd was furious but did not want to show it and just kept his cool. He said, he's a pastor and didn't want to publicly yell. I don't blame them one bit. I would be furious too, because they called ahead and the doctor knew they were coming. Now they are doing a CT scan on Colton.

Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

Now what is happening is that Colton hasn't been himself and he's been complaining of his stomach hurting. Cassie, Colton's older sister complains of her stomach hurting also. Sonja, Colton's mother thinks maybe they ate something but the only thing they had both ate was pizza and Sonja and Todd had pizza too. Sonja and Todd never got sick. Well the next day Cassie starts to recover from her bug but Colton is still having pain and throwing up. They take him to the emergency room and the doctor says it's not appendicitis. Todd figured it may have been because his family has a history of the sickness. And also Sonja had it while she was young also. I'm more excited now to see how all of this happens and how he go into meeting Jesus.

Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

Colton faces his fear of spiders while him and his family had visited the Butterfly Pavillion. He watched his older sister, Cassie hold the spider as well as other kids then got a sticker saying, "I held Rosie". His parents kept encouraging him to do it, but he was scared. They were getting ready to leave and Colton had one more chance of holding the spider before they would leave. Finally he says, "fine, I will do it". I have not conquered one of my fears which is snakes. I can NOT be near or touch those things. They are nasty!

Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

Wow. What I just read was something special. Something interesting, a little crazy too. Todd was explaining that he had crutches from a broken ankle, passed kidney stones, and then found out he had breast cancer. He had felt pain in his breast and felt a lump. So they were going to do a lumpectomy. Then Todd explained how upset he was with God and thought he had disciples at his side but weren't guarding him. Well turns out, he went back to the doctor and they found all normal breast tissue. There was no lump, no nothing! Just all normal breast tissue. Todd said it was one of God's little miracles and he asked God to forgive himself for getting upset with him before. I realize now that I shouldn't ever be mad at God. He has a plan for all of us and some don't realize that everything happens for a reason. I realize losing my cousin was really hard, but now I think positive. God took her because it was her time and he needed another angel. Now I have another guardian angel along with my grandpa and grandma watching over me. I feel so special and I know Andrea is always by my side. So I thank God instead of asking why or being upset. He is the man:)

Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

Todd, Colton's father, talks about when he was in the hospital because he had a six millimeter kidney stone and had to have surgery for it. Then he talked about getting the tip of his finger smashed in a tailgate and then says it was like baking cookies compared to his kidney stone he passed in three days. The finger part brought back memories to me when my brother got half of his finger smashed off on the back of a trailer door. My mom had been baking cookies at the time and what he said definately reminded me of when that happened to my brother. Although I was not home. I was at a friend's house but I remember my cousins came out to pick me up and take me up to the hospital where they amputated my brother's finger. Mom and dad said my brother didn't even cry, he was just shocked which makes me think that he's brave just like Colton in this book.

Heaven Is For Real

Colton wants to go back to the hospital because he saw the angels there once. He has to feel really special for meeting Jesus and God and his grandpa he didn't even recognize. I would give anything to meet with them and to ask them so many questions but then, we are not supposed to as "why". Colton is one lucky little boy and I think he knows where he will be one day. Meeting them would be an honor to me, but hopefully someday that will happen.
