Shop V

In shop today, I plan to get pretty far on the south wall. The wall we are painting yellow. We don't have a whole lot of class periods left so I'm hoping we get the room finished.

Shop V

Yesterday in shop, I started painting the south wall in the finishing room yellow. I had a good section done and Mr. Barker said that it was supposed to be blue. Whoops. But then he said it was a little too late so I guess that wall is going to be yellow. I like painting, but after a while I get really sick of it and yesterday it was hot and I didn't even want to start. But it is all coming together now that the pink wall is done and the green wall.

Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

I am done with the book and I agree with Colton's grandma that before she'd love hearing about heaven but now she actually visualizes it like I do. I just want to know what it's like but now that I've read this book I have a good idea and am curious to some day see what it's like. I did expect a little more, but it is what it is and that's all that can be described now.

Shop V

In project class yesterday, I painted another coat of green on the south wall. We have the pink wall all done and it is very bright, but very cool. We have two more walls left to do. We're painting them blue and yellow. They are all pastel colors because the colors have to be bright since it's the finishing room. Honestly, when you walk in, you'll think of Easter right away. But the pink is so bright you don't even need to turn the light on to notice it.

Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

Colton told his babysitter, Ali about when he went to heaven. Ali couldn't believe it and she broke down crying when he told her he missed his sister from heaven. I don't know what I would do in her situation and I wouldn't know what to think. Then Colton talked to his dad about the "war" in heaven. Todd questioned it. They were watching a movie, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Sonja told Colton that she bets there's no swords in heaven. Colton stood up and told her that there is swords in heaven because Jesus and other people are fighting off Satan and the bad people. They asked if Colton saw Satan and Colton said yes but when they asked further questions like, "what did he look like"? Colton didn't want to talk about it. That is so crazy and I never would have thought that they are fighting in heaven and if Satan wins, they will destroy the earth. This makes me think about so much and has me so interested way more about what heaven is really like. What I thought it was was exactly what the book said it wasn't all about, like golden gates and bright, beautiful colors. That's there too, but I would have never thought there was fighting in heaven. It makes me want to find out more things and keeps me curious.

Shop IV

Today in Shop, we're starting to build walls for a shed. I helped measure boards and cut them. Then I nailed the studs to the boards with the nail gun, which is the funnest thing about building walls I think. I learn things I never thought I would and I probably won't have to know them later on, but it's always fun experiencing new things and having an idea on how some things work.

Shop IV

In shop today, I finished the basement in my house. I put in an exercise room with a sauna, a kid's room, guest room, and a bathroom. Then to top the rest of the house off we had to put a roof on. The roof was probably the easiest thing to do. Designing a house may seem like an easy thing to do on chief architect, but it's actually a pain sometimes. You get walls that don't want to align up and furniture that's supposed to go in your living room but end up in the basement. It actually takes time to sit and figure what you really want and if where you put a room will be a smart idea for later on. The funnest thing about them, I think is you get to add furniture then make it what ever color you want and you can paint the walls and you can add people, pets, vehicles, and decorative things. I have two cats, a dog, a pickup, and a jeep. Oh and another cool thing, you can even add in a pool and hot tub in your backyard.

Heaven Is For Real: Todd Burpo

So Colton is telling his dad, Todd more about heaven. Everybody has wings except Jesus. Jesus still floats and goes up and down like an elevator; that was how Colton explained it. And everybody has a light above their head. Todd remembered their friends' little girl asked why some people have a light over their head and some people don't. Todd hoped and wondered if he did as I now wonder and hope the same. I'm glad I'm reading this because reading about how everybody has wings reminded me of my dream I had last night. I was at my cousins' house and I was hugging somebody and happened to look out a small square window on the door and I saw Andrea smiling at me with wings. I rushed outside to give her a hug and I know there was more that happened but I can't remember it all. I've had the best dreams with her in them.

Shop Trip

Going to Rochester, Minnesota for our senior shop trip was the funnest thing I've done so far. Mr. Barker's parents were the nicest people you could meet. We all had fun together and kept busy constantly. Thursday we chilled out after we got there and played some mario kart. Then Friday we went to a cabinet shop, the screen printing place, looked at some houses, and then went ice skating. Ice skating was fun and a new experience. Saturday, we looked at more houses that Al had built and went inside one that was getting done. Whoever is going to live there, is going to have an amazing home. An 8 or 9 foot pool is going to be built in the backyard and the rooms and details and showers and closets are amazing and so well done. Then after that we had dinner and after dinner we went paintballing. Paintballing was also a fun thing and a new experience. I would definately do it again. I would love to go back and do it all over again. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday or a better weekend. Thank you Mr. Barker!
